2022 Philosophy
Tasting notes
This elegant Bordeaux-style blend begins with notes of black cherry, clove, and cedar. On the palate, layers of fresh blueberry, violet, dried strawberry and a touch of Tahitian vanilla lead to a lingering, complex finish with well-integrated tannins.

2022 was defined by location, location, location. Storms materialize throughout the growing season, but the severity and amount of rainfall depended on a vineyard’s location. Those vineyards that felt minimal impact (like Greenhill & naked Valley), saw higher tonnage totals in nearly all varietals as well as higher quality fruit. This Philosophy was sourced from Breaux Vineyards, Naked Valley, and Walsh Family.
This vintage was indeed perfect to bring back Philosophy. This Meritage blend relies heavily on the Naked Valley Petit Verdot & Merlot. The blending was laborious, but rewarding, creating what is a tight, softly tannic, decantable, and most notably age worthy wine. These qualities, backing up our tradition of fruit forward red winemaking, create one of the most exciting bottles Greenhill has produced.
