Each harvest, the Greenhill production team likes to try something new, something different, and Chardonnay being a very versatile grape, was the perfect candidate for the 2022 vintage.
The Chardonnay Skin Contact is essentially a white wine produced as if it were a red wine. While white wines are typically made by fermenting juice, red wines get their texture, nuance, and color by fermenting that juice with the grape skins. We applied that technique to a small amount of Chardonnay from the 2022 vintage to create an extremely small batch wine that makes us very proud.
Fermented at low temps, the impact of this process was subtle, showing off the fruit in the front and light tannins around the mid palate and in the finish for a beautifully structured, but clean wine.
